Getting Your Affiliate Site Ranked High on Google

I was going to do the second part of the affiliate strategy that has worked well for me as well as the affiliate program that I highly recommend to anybody who has an internet business.

But I decided to get into a very important topic associated with affiliate marketing. Getting plenty of traffic to your affiliate site is of course the most important part because there would be no business otherwise.

There is no better way to get traffic then the natural way of ranking high on search engines for targeted keyword terms. So I am going to give you some excellent affiliate strategies I use to regularly to get my affiliate sites on the first page of google.

Now I am sure many of you know by now that getting high rankings boils down to optimizing your site with the right keywords as well as getting backlinks to your affiliate site.

On Page SEO

Before you even think about getting backlinks you should focus on creating quality content for your affiliate blog or site. And no I am not going to get into keyword density and the whole old school approach of optimizing your site. Those days of spamming your main keyword in your site are way over.

Now what google loves to see in a site is a variety of keywords that are related to your main keyword. They could be synonyms or variations of your main keyword. For example if your affiliate site was about building muscle and the main keyword was "how to build muscle" some great variations would include building muscle, strength training, and get big muscles.

These are the kinds of keywords you would want to include in your content and some other places like the description, some post titles, and meta tags.

The main keyword is the one you ideally want to rank number one for even with all the competition there is. So you should have your main keyword in the domain name, the title of the affiliate site, the description, and in most of your page/post titles. Not a lot of marketers know about how to do this right. But now you have a general idea

So many of them are focused on keyword density and all that but the truth is google does not put a lot of weight on those sites. Use this affiliate strategy wisely and you will see great results.

Off Page SEO

Think of on page SEO as building the base of the site with all the rich content you provide. Now that you have set up the foundation it is time to build strong backlinks to your affiliate site for maximum exposure.

The most important thing to understand about this affiliate strategy is to NOT worry about getting as many backlinks as you can. Once again those days are over. Now is the time to work smarter by getting a few HIGH QUALITY backlinks.

I would much rather get one backlink from an authority site than hundreds from small websites that are low in value through the eyes of the search engines. As you may know google uses page rank to determine how important a site is. The sites with the highest page rank will always out rank the lower ones.

So in order to get a high page rank for your site you need to get links from sites that have a page rank of 3 or higher. But don't get me wrong, any backlinks are valuable even if the site has a page rank of 0. But getting backlinks from the authority sites in your niche are so powerful that all you need is a few and your rankings will soar.

When you supplement the high quality links with the on page optimization of your affiliate site you will easily out rank any site out there for your main keyword. That is what affiliate marketing is all about. More on this tomorrow.
